![]() In the past, I have used quite a few air fryers, and this has been my favorite for a few years now. I find that the food gets the crispiest in this particular brand. I live and die by my Gowise 7qt Air Fryer. You can generally find them pretty inexpensively at most stores. I got my first air fryer pretty early on during my wellness journey. Everything else stayed the same! What is an air fryer? What if I don’t have one?Īn air fryer is basically a glorified, petite, countertop-sized convection oven. The only change I made was from pan frying them in oil, to air frying them. To lighten up this recipe, it didn’t take much. When I started eating healthier, I still wanted to incorporate my favorite foods into my life. The kids like to chop them up and dip them in ketchup, and the adults love them because of their nostalgia. It’s just the perfect family-friendly food. ![]() When I moved out on my own, I continued making chicken cutlets for Emilio and me. I would usually dip my chicken cutlets in BBQ sauce, just because. Typically, a weeknight dinner in our house was mom’s chicken cutlets, mashed potatoes and corn. Everyone’s mom on Long Island makes the best chicken cutlets, and mine is no exception. I, like most Long Islanders, grew up eating chicken cutlets weekly. They are the base for dishes like chicken parmigiana, and also make a delicious addition to salads or sandwiches. I am not sure if this is an East Coast thing, but this is what we call thin sliced chicken breast that is breaded in seasoned breadcrumbs and fried in oil. You can use these in salads, on sandwiches, or to make dishes like chicken parmigiana, without the mess of traditional frying. This is a base recipe for air fried chicken cutlets. While they are delicious, I was determined to recreate this recipe using no oil, and in my air fryer. Allow chicken to rest for about 5 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit, before serving.Breaded chicken cutlets are a staple in an Italian-American home, but they are usually fried in oil until golden brown. ![]() Continue to cook until the internal temperature is 160 degrees Fahrenheit. After about 8 minutes, open the lid, flip the chicken breasts and then close the lid.ħ. Using silicone tongs, place the chicken onto the grill and close the lid.Ħ. Insert the instant-read thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken breast. If your grill does not have the Smart feature, push the "FUNCTION" option and turn the dial until it is on "GRILL." Push the"TEMP" button and choose "MEDIUM." Push the "TIME" button and choose 15 minutes.ĥ. Allow chicken to rest for about 5 minutes before serving.Ģ. Continue to cook until the Ninja Foodi Grill says "GET FOOD." Open lid, remove chicken and plate. ![]() When the Ninja Foodi Grill says "FLIP," open the lid, flip the chicken breasts and then close the lid.ħ. Insert the smart thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken breast. Once preheated and the grill says "ADD FOOD," open the lid and lightly spray the grill with non-aerosol avocado oil.ĥ. The Ninja Foodi Grill will start to "PREHEAT."Ĥ. Push the "PRESET" button and turn the dial until it reads "CHICKEN."ģ. ![]() If you have the Smart Ninja Foodi Grill, choose the "GRILL" option. If time does not permit, you can marinate for less time.Ģ. Seal the bag or cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate for about an hour. In a Ziplock bag or large bowl, combine the boneless, skinless chicken breasts, the melted butter, garlic, red pepper flakes, lime juice and zest, salt, and pepper. ![]()
